CLIMB LIKE A SHERPA!

Have you ever taken a walk and wished you were climbing Mt Everest? Perhaps you can! I have summited Mt Everest for the past five years -- more than any woman on earth! Now I am willing to share my experience with others.

Everest is the ultimate challenge and making it to the summit is the thrill of a lifetime. Imagine yourself arriving in Kathmandu, an exotic city and gateway to the Himalayas. I will meet you, get you settled in your lodgings, arrange transportation to Base Camp at Everest and lead you up the magnificent mountain. You will find yourself among interesting people from all over the world. I have met climbers from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, South America, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Britain and Austria. And the Sherpas are the glue that holds this diverse community together on the mountain.

Sherpas will help you in so many ways. They prepare meals, carry amazing loads, and with friendly encouragement, they will tell you of their expeditions and experiences. Sherpas are brave, unbelievably strong companions on your climb. Their knowledge of the mountain is vast -- weather conditions, best routes, safety precautions -- all critical to a safe and successful climb.

Today Sherpas lead the world in successful summits but also in fatalities. They spend more time on the mountain than anyone else. They fix the routes, carry loads, assist climbers who are having problems, and often put their own lives at great risk to save someone in trouble. To 'climb like a Sherpa' is a unique style. They sometimes appear to be traveling at a slow pace, but that is deceptive. Their progress is steady; rests are few and far between. They often prefer to climb in groups, frequently with other family members from the same village or district.

I 'climb like a Sherpa' because I am one -- let me introduce myself to you. I am Lakpa Sherpa, Director of Sunny Mountain Guides. I hold the world record for women who have summited Mt Everest. Five times I have stood on the top of the world, more than any other woman. I have received many honors for my accomplishments. After my summit in May of 2005, I was received by the King of Nepal in recognition of my achievement. (Click here for photo) Now I am ready to lead others to the top! SMG will provide expertise and companionship for your adventure to Everest. Climb like a Sherpa with Lakpa Sherpa and Sunny Mountain Guides.
